Nebula

Inspired by the effects of Sarah Carmody's Cosmic Nova concept, we follow the creation of a small nebula as it begins to stabilize into life. Effects were done in Houdini with volumes and particles. Rendered with Redshift and composited in Nuke. Responsible for FX.

Composition and Effects Breakdown of Pre-Expansion

Nebula core particles were created with animated geometry and advected with volume trails generated by the animated geometry. Secondary volume emittiong from the core is being driven by same animated geometry. Suction particles and volume was created originally as an effect being emitted and pushed away and re-timed to generate suction effect.

Composition and Effects Breakdown of Post-Expansion

Expansion particles were created being emitted from the core as it expands, emitting only on the initial expansion. Particles were then moved by a suction and orbit force. Volume is emitted by the same particles with a pyro sop solver.
